AEW Day 1 with Little $ and a freebie!

I sign up every year to my building's Appreciation week(s) person. I secretly do it so I can use all the ideas found on my pinterest board HERE! This year the food pantries around the area are in short supply. So we decided to forgo the "present" from the group, and do a donation to the local pantries.

But that doesn't mean we can't get some things.

Here is what everyone in the district is getting (Board, K-12 staff and teachers)I found some cool prints from Venspired.com (The blog formerly known as TeachFactory.com :)and made them into Magnets.....for free via Vistaprint.....

Of course the first one not everyone could get, so the 2nd one is for the support staff and board. As we know aides teach too!

For everyone's in my building door's I took the shield from

Source
And put their names on it ! Then to remind adults and students each classroom is getting a print of this

(Great Blog check it out)
I put them all together with these labels on avery 2.5 circle labels

Clipart from Thistlegirl ....... See with a little printer ink (fine ALOT of printer ink) & cardstock this can be done! Back with rest of the week soon!

2 down 178 days to go

So this was not the time for my doctor to decide to take me off all medication (allergies, bp, over the counter) to see if that was why I was not sleeping. But when your doctor gives you the choice of that or the hospital for exhaustion. You choice no meds. We went back for in service on Monday. I had four hours sleep. NOT GOOD.....To be honest I was so tired I just plain put one foot in front of the other. But some highlights of what is going to be a long year.

Our union advises via the NEA, no student or Parent friends on facebook,
(I don't students already, even the students who are family friends) the Parents, well there is fine
line in a small school district, they cross the line of friends who happen to be parents too. Don't know how that will work out. But we shall see.

Our district is in very very bad shape financially. Some cost cutting measures were implemented.
Each employee was given x amount of copies for the year. When you are out, you are out. We were also given a $ amount of $60 for the year for printing. (1 cent for the bw copier, 25 cent for color printer) Should I state that this started August 1st without my knowledge. So anything I printed for my coworkers library or classroom has now given me a balance of $24. Yep, I talked to the boss. He is going to see if he can make an exception. OY......I need your input....if you print your TPT items outside the district do you a) print at a store (kinko's, office depot, staples if so at what price) b) at home on your printers, deals on ink????

So I have been helping coworkers, and that has sapped any and all energy for me. I called the doctor Monday and said 6 days of no meds, and my brain is fried. Can I go back on them.....yes, but this is not over. OY......My room is not done. But I will do it....

Before I go I wanted to share an idea I got from Jena at
When I got those markers the lady at walmart made me show my id to prove that I wasn't buying them to sniff (huff) Really ...:)

Not a whole lot, but some cutsey things for them

For the 3 men at work!

Thanks Jena for the tags and the idea:)

I have stated in the past, that I try to get something for my coworkers. Beginning, Christmas and end of year. Somebody said you get along with all 25 of them(told you I have a small district Prek-3) NOPE, and again they would say the same thing. But I was raised to appreciate EVERYBODY. This is going to be a LONG year, 2 administrator's last year. New evaluations start next year with new admins...Common core, will we have a school next year at all....So for a moment I want to say thanks and be positive as I don't know what the future holds personally or professionally. There you have it. Kids come back tomorrow until 11:10, and 7:20 comes early. So good night and hope to be back soon.

Hot and Coworker gift

Had to run to local store to get some ice cream, this was mid afternoon, and not the hottest one this week. Blech....

I wanted to share a coworker gift I did for the end of year. I work with 24 people, from the "lunch ladies", custodians, all the way to the Superintendent. Someone always asked why I feel I need to give gifts to everyone. (They are never really expensive) My reply is always (and I do mean it) Sometime during the year, they helped me with something, from an ear to vent at, to helping me with the kid at recess who fell in the mud, whatever they did HELPED me...do I get along with all 24 everyday, nope, they would say the same thing...We all have our days, it's a small school. But in the grand scheme of things, we are a team, and we faced alot this year from new programs to the death of student. We stick together when the going gets tough....as we proved this year. In fact my gift may never be enough but it shows at least a bit what I am trying to express.

I have been using these for flower storage in scrapbooking, and knew sometime I wanted to do a gift with them. Can you tell what it started out as?
Yep, my friends/coworkers have been saving these for me for awhile. Finally decided to do something. Took the labels off (WD40 or Goo be gone works great to get glue off) then threw them in dishwasher for cleaning. (some make take more times than others) then let them dry. I took the caps and spray painted them black. Found the label blank online with some PSE magic....Here's what it says

I can't find the link of where I got the label from, if anyone's interested let me know and I will dig for it. Font is Abe Lincoln from Lettering Delights. The little scoops I attached were from ebay. I attached the labels with re-positionable glue dots, thinking if they wanted to reuse the bottle again....in the mild (compared to now) 80's they were falling off. I guess regular glue dots next time!

I have done the photo cubes, philosophy goodies, scrabble tile necklaces (who needs fingerprints after using superglue anyhow) and the list goes on, all well received. My pinterest is loaded with ideas to have on hand. Which comes in handy for my little sister, her oldest entered Kindergarten this past year, and I had a plethora of ideas for her for teacher gifts! I haven't decided if I am going to do one for when we get back or not. Well there you have it, hope I didn't bore you to death!
