During Red Ribbon Week

Remember NOT to spray hair Red when rain is called for (oh Leea it is only a 50% chance)

Before the Monsoons hit....
Did I mention that IL had a drought, all summer I kept saying, just call the kids back to the playground, when I have duty, or have to walk between buildings, it will rain, we are catching up since school started. Too bad we lost the crops to it........

Hope everyone is having a great Red Ribbon Week ......

Last week before BTS

Let's be honest, I am dragging my feet ....I am more excited about this

Last year, a coworker/friend since the 4th grade and I went to see Tim close by, so when this was announced I figured what the heck! Looked at district calendar, woohoo we have MLK off this year, (we waived it last year...went over not so much) SOOOOOOOOOOOOO Excited.....IF you have any Vegas tips ...feel free to share, my friend has gone, but this will be my first time.....The Venetian is a BIT much so hotels around there, places must see......LOL

Back to school.......I am dollar tree stalking today (if I can get up at a decent time) 45 minutes away....I want these baskets

in green. I didn't order online, as I read the comments that some didn't even get these colors. Today look what pops up on $ Tree's website...... new colors

Seriously people, love this green, OY......everyone reading my blog cross your fingers I find green of either shade......as I need to get my behind moving.....One of our Kinder teachers took a job closer to her kids. One of my coworkers that got moved took the spot....woohoo! I can come up with ideas and look forward to helping her and my friend with her library......my room...nope......so Retail Therapy it is.....(sssshhhh we won't mention the 50 billion I have already spent this summer) Will be back this week....with something I've made really....Please tell me I am not alone in this funk!

Currently August Edition

Linking up with Farley at

Seriously, August already? Didn't we just have June currently......I am a rubber band being pulled
towards school and home. Our library project has been plagued with tech issues, Currently my router at home died(waiting for ISP to call and say new one is ready), and the ones at school HATE me...(not really but it felt like it) So today I am catching up on the non techy things as living in BFE without good cell coverage it is touch and go......I am going to take this as a sign from God to slow down, and get to work on the other 50 billion things I need to do, and get back at the tech stuff tomorrow. No more meltdowns or at least not the big ones....Be back soon with things I have done, and hopefully completed library pictures and tips. TTYL

It really is July isn't it!

This was my post the last day of school on facebook

and this is from today

From and including: Sunday, July 1, 2012
To, but not including : Monday, August 20, 2012

It is 50 days from the start date to the end date, but not including the end date
Or 1 month, 19 days excluding the end date

Alternative time units

50 days can be converted to one of these units:
  • 4,320,000 seconds
  • 72,000 minutes
  • 1200 hours
  • 7 weeks (rounded down)
WOW I have spent 5 weeks (give or take a week) on the house and suddenly I realized I need to get moving on the school stuff. My sister and family  are going to be here next week and I STILL have house stuff to do. So I am going to have to alternate.......I don't want to hit the week before school starts rushing around trying to get things done here and school. SIGH......please tell me I am not alone....Don't get me wrong I am still doing our summer reading with RAZ Kids, but not going in to copy yet for the ones we mail. Found out our TITLE budget got cut ...so now trying to redo my schedule and find the money to pay for my time.....I was exactly 75% Title I and 25% school paid, for last couple but now with the district $$ issues and everything....I don't know.....OY.......Whew anxiety attack over, thanks for letting me stress out....how do you guys do it? I will be back with my Made it Monday ....hopefully on Monday :)

Pinterest and me

I decided to catch up on some of the linky parties here . Darn if there weren't several on each one I loved. So what is a gal to do but pin it. Suddenly, on a IKEA pin (shocked I'm sure) the below pops up:

Now you see why they call me Ms. Pinterest! For your information I wasn't able to use my pin it bookmarklet or those on blogs, but I was able to pin from the site....and I did. LOL.....I emailed like they said and by the time I got a response I could pin everywhere again. But just thought I'd share :) Speaking of Pinterest guess I best go make some of those ideas I find!

Courage

Source

I am writing this on my phone, as I sit in the ER with my 63 year old mother for the 2nd time in a week, she is being admitted again.  Our Dr. has been out of state for 3 weeks, and he knew when I called him at home on a Sunday, it was not good. I will be checking back in but in case I don't get right back ...you know I am not ignoring you. Prayers would appreciated!

Studies on Full Moons

and how they make elementary students go nuts...Have they been done....Here was my facebook status tonight after work....

"As if I couldn't tell there was a full moon coming (a dead raccoon in a jar last week almost did me in) my most mild mannered children were nuts....I again urge you to call your local State, Federal and International representatives and urge them to vote yes to hazard pay for school employees around full moons......"

Yes you did read that right, first time in 10 years in the business, and I have never had a child bring a DEAD baby raccoon in a jar....I was very brave (dead animals give weamie jeemies) in the umpteenth day of dense fog, in my very brave voice "put that in your book bag and don't let me see out of it all day" I gleefully then stalked waited for her classroom teacher and or superintendent. Soon as their soles hit the front door I so  let them take care of it(of course after repeating several times to them as they both thought they heard me wrong)....BLECH.....

As I said I have been fighting the crud all weekend! I blame the non stop fog, that has 2 cycles lately either dense heavy duty fog or the every lovely dense freezing fog.....both of which on top of  the week leading up to a  full moon start the school days out so lovely! I have accomplished nothing at night as I am even more exhausted than normal! So when I get back feeling better I will have a normal enriching blog post ....(Not that you did not laugh at my raccoon story) Add to all this our district is facing MASSIVE budget cuts, and there is no real easy answer except that the State of IL is royally *&^% schools....esp the small rural ones! It is a little bit tense around the water cooler, sides have been drawn .....All I want to do is help kids learn to read and use a computer while having fun doing it! I will be back soon :)

MIA

That would be me, and to be honest until I get back in the swing of things, I will be for awhile. I had grand plans of having my room ready and sharing. But if you have a person who is the go to person for technology and computers, that would be me. When we left in May, our building's Kindergarten teacher was on maternity leave. So I had 3 times to schedule with her. This year we are doing RTI in the afternoon, we will be working with 2nd  graders, so we tacked the 1/2 hour Title time at the end of RTI, so we have a full hour. That being said it took an hour out of my lab schedule. This year I will be eating lunch at 10:50, recess duty 1st rotation (instead of middle) a Noon lab, and I could go on....Since I had to add my Kindergarten times to the master schedule I get the "joy" of doing all the corrections etc. Then add in our tech dept is new this year, and he walked in to a mess, so I am just behind in both aspects of my job. I am taking it one day at a time, if I don't get it done at work, some of it I will work on at home, but I am trying to not go in for the "decorating" Which I start new schedule tomorrow(kids came Friday until 11 for a PBIS kickoff tomorrow full day) and 6 am comes quick...Will be back soon! Please tell me someone else in blog land is behind too!

I really must insist

you STOP THIS Train....sorry, I am really in freak out mode, we are allowed back in our rooms Monday. My freak out is so bad that I have not been sleeping ...in fact not at all. But I am working on it. I have to share the funniest post, Check out Reagan's Top Ten list below....great for a good laugh.

#7 for me is Pepsi, not Diet Coke like my coworkers. I have a mini fridge stocked in my room.

Will back soon with pictures etc from the classroom. I even think there just might be a giveaway ....so check back this week !

I admit I am still

A teachers blog addict. But NOW I have proof. I see a freebie resource, I download it (or buy it if it isn't free). Well, my computer was funny yesterday with TPT...but recovered enough to download my order. Then I was trying to do something else on the net and it was slow. Figured ok, I wore it out. LOL.  You see the entire month of May, and first two weeks of June, my internet had been slowwwwww...Finally, I got frustrated (it was when I found TBA) at the slowness and called my provider. Within ten minutes, they called back to say it was all better and it was something they needed to fix on their end. (little miffed they don't post this on their website) So, from then on smooth sailing. Until today when I called (figure it was them again)  as it was still very very slow. Nope it was me! I had MAXED out our limit! 1st) Didn't even know I had a limit 2nd) have no idea how to keep track of that 3rd)The gal asked me what in the last month had I started downloading. I told her resources for my job at a school. She said oh....Don't think she believed me. So I am on a slow down until the 22nd....Oops...Anybody have a clue, how to keep track of such a thing. I can upgrade $10/10mb more ...I put a SOS to my brother in law that is a computer guru...well guess my google reader is going to get even fuller :) I did slowly get my Vistaprint order done, will share um....soon!

Seriously

Technology is my friend

Technology is my friend

Technology is my friend

I have been looking forward to the Christmas in July sales at TPT, I made my wish list of items..So this morning when the insomnia was in full force, I started shopping. The site kept glitching so at 4 am, I went to bed. My shopping cart was there when I got back up ...so I continued to shop the sales....The site kept glitching ....then it asked me to login again (I have it on remember me) that should have been my first clue....

Being the power online shopper I figure, I will login and out again...nada....I have emailed but .....I should have written things down, I have no way of remembering what all I had in the cart, as some of them I moved from my wishlist to cart, others I found new stores from the sales page......OY...this is my sign to go back to bed.......I have little notebooks I made my coworkers that say websites to remember, I just never to remember to keep mine by my laptop....where is that superglue....

How to keep up

I work with K-3 both in reading and labs. It's only natural that I follow these blogs right?

That is only yesterday and today. How does everyone do it? I mean some of you have kids, my poor dog sees me open my laptop lately and he goes to his crate and shuts the door! I have found so many wonderful resources, so I am not stopping now! Any tips or tricks? I keep my crafty and scrapbooking blogs on my other email this solely for teachers blogs ..(It is behind too) OY.....When RTS happens I will be even busier.....Thanks in advance !

Grrrr....seriously????

I made it through last year's technology nightmare at work...ok fine last few years...I can survive this correct? I mentioned my personal laptop got water dripped on it....Well the keyboard is shot...So I ordered a new one...(keyboard not laptop) This laptop is my right arm, I use it all the time. When it was in my possession for one day....my dog knocked an entire can of pop on it...took it all apart ..it was fine..literally 3 drops of water and the keyboard bites the dust. I am lucky in that (remind me of this often) I have my work laptop at home ..If you noticed tonight I have posted several posts. I can't post on my own blog comments or any blogs for that matter! I have done all the fixes that I can find. So bear with me, I am using my Add this blogger button to post....I usually like to combine posts but I can't...I should get my new keyboard this week....But my work one leaves ALOT to be desired after having my personal one set up my way....I will be repeating this over and over...Technology is my friend ....LOL ....Talk to you soon ;)

Hadar...like these labels??? I have posted the following as my status on facebook several times "Is there a limit to how many times a day you can say seriously and grrrrrr to people or is it like the old weight watchers you can bank them for days like this ?"
