Don't forget to enter my giveaway HERE

So begins the work on my personal classroom library, but also those of my coworkers(this mean's you Mrs Firstgradestamper). When my niece was here, I showed her how I could scan my books into the computer using my iphone and scanner. When it comes to reading, she takes after me. She read books like it was going out of style, she found my Berenstain Bears' Chapter books, and had to take a few home back to MD!

Tonight, I saw the below post from Erica Bohrer's fb PAGE!

Link
FIRST of all, she did not warn you that it was the black hole of loveliness ......OMG......On this page Ashley shared a pic from Melissa's Blog HERE..... She mentioned she used LIBRARY THING......and look what 10 mins did .....

That is 75 books, consisting of 2 orders from Teacher Express (more to add), My orders from Amazon, those books my niece borrowed, and the ones I already scanned from Booksource.

So here is a freebie for the binder you make once you join and start making your library.

Hope you enjoy, 1 month and 4 days until we go back "officially" for Teachers. I am so behind, but hope to share more next week.....Like my library done, and starting on coworkers pictures! Plus some home projects that I have gotten wrapped up!

Blog planning

I have the best of intentions of posting. But then life gets in the way. Since school has been out on May 25th, I have been with the help of my 11 year old and 14 year old nieces been purging/organizing the house. I have much much more to do, but one of the places I wanted to add organization to is blog planning. So I went in search of printable blog planners (free as let me tell you I have spent $$ on things already) here are some of the ones I found.

Blog your heart (a challenge)

Taking the challenge (see link below)

Right now I am so far behind I may catch up in May! I have such grand plans to do this and that, then life gets in the way. From the server dying at work (think if yours did at work, no printers for 6 days, using an old profile) Add in the middle my mom's fall (on top of her poor health) then my personal printer dies! I find myself with no balance between home and work....A new schedule that I find in week 4 I still don't know, some challenging students(attitudes that I haven't seen in the 10 years I've been here) I need to sit down and make one big to do list. One for home, One for work, then break down each to more manageable steps.... I am so far behind on blogging, both here and reading...How do you balance?

Now the good things, I have hope in the technology side of my job for the first time in A LONG TIME, may not be ready today, tomorrow or next month but soon! My reading group while glitches are there, is rolling and I am LOVING teaching SRA again to a group. I am working on a baby shower for a coworker (friends since the 4th grade) who is having a true miracle! I found some WONDERFUL resources from you the fellow teacher, and it is so great to be able to go and print out that little extra that is needed without having to take the time to make it, the work has been done! Our PBIS team used my mascot to model good and bad behavior, it has laid the ground work for a family night in the works (more details later) My coworkers are working on Daily 5, and its great to go into a room and understand how it works!

Now it is your turn, I challenge you to Blog from the heart, leave me a comment if you do so I can read them too!

Gentle reminders....

I have been feeling really in the dumps about how my room is compared to others (see classroom label) I admit I was jealous. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, just not the 100+yr old  building sometimes. But as I tell my students jealousy can come back and bite you. I was catching up on the blogs and Mrs. Berg posted her's. I am going to zip it from now on. Take a look at what she has to deal with. Sometimes it takes a gentle reminder for us to get things in check. (Thanks Mrs. Berg for reminding me to be grateful!)

But I am working on it. I have to share the funniest post, Check out Reagan's Top Ten list below....great for a good laugh.

Will back soon with pictures etc from the classroom. I even think there just might be a giveaway ....so check back this week !

Followers

I was checking out some of the blogs of my followers, first do some of you realize you don't have your blog linked in your profiles? Maybe there is a reason, but it was so easy to get to the blogs that had theirs linked.

Now, here are some newbies that you might want to check out :

This year, I am taking a reading group for 1/2 hour of RTI, and then the following 1/2 hr, so I am ALWAYS looking for literacy resources, here is one that is just that!

Another blog I found was Keri's a Grade 2/3 teacher from Canada! She use technology and major bonus points...she is a pinterest pinner (LOL) click on her button to check her out!

This one I just had to share ....Miss Toffees Class

I am going to try doing this as regular as possible, if I find a blog with 100 or less followers, I will try and give a shout out to their blog. As I am new to the teacher blogs (not blogging itself) I understand wanting to be heard and understood by the ones in the trenches with us. So please hop over to these blogs and show your support!

PSA Bloggers

Jenn over at Finally in First posted this saying some bloggers needed some help. Well I help others with computers at work, so I sent emails to the gals. Erica and I tried just about everything, cleared her cache, cookies...down to standing on our heads..LOL.....Erica's posts on mine are going to spam, but just in case switched my settings to full page comments...so I learned from her that I need to watch my spam. But I kept researching, mine locked up and ever since if the blog has a comment like above it is hit and miss on whether I can leave comments.......Off to do more research, anyone have more of an idea how to solve? Blogger was having issues with at end of May but it says its been fixed? Thanks

Organizing the resources from the blogs!

I wish I had thought of this at the start.....

You know how all the wonderful teacher's blogs are sharing wonderful resources! Some are sharing google documents, some pdfs. My process is that I organize them all in collections in categories on my own Google Documents! (It says shared as I shared with my school email in case gmail is blocked)

Well that works just great, but I was worried that I would never remember where the original owner was, and what the resource went with (ie Debbie Diller's math) Then just now a light bulb moment hit! Jennifer over at First Grade Blue Skies just shared a great pirate map here! I wondered come fall would I remember what the thought was behind it was? Then I thought maybe I could put the link to her blog in the notes section of the file! Well on google documents when you have your document in front of you(Your home screen lists recent uploads click on the box next the document you are editing) , on the right it will say the document's name, then it will say description, click on the edit button and add the link to blog! (It will look like this when you are done)

Now come fall when I open these great resources I will remember the "story" behind them! Now 1 down 5 billion to go! Hope this helps others out! Any other ideas please feel free to share!

PS...Thanks to all the wonderful teacher's blogs for sharing all the great resources, my life at school is always crazy, you made it so much easier, now I have resources readily available at a click of my mouse!

I admit I am

a blog addict!  Check out these awesome blogs listed on BlogAddict's site!

Here is a link to the linky party!

Linky Party with Donalyn Miller and Thinking of Teaching

Beth @  Thinking of Teaching asked Donalyn Miller author of The Book Whisperer the following questions (you can find her answers here); Now its our turn to answer the questions!

1) What is your favorite book (or series) from childhood?
That is like asking a mother who her favorite child is, but just today I found my copy of a Curious George book and it brought back the memories of reading them as a child. Love them to this day!

2) What is your favorite book (or series) now?

Have to say have the Two sisters and Debbie Diller books to read, but my destressing books are Lori Foster's  Edge of Honor Series ...take a look at this (now wouldn't you too?)

3) What is your opinion of e-readers?
I have the kindle app on every piece of technology I have, it’s so easy (maybe a little too easy) to download a book. I have read more since December than I have in years past. I also like the fact that I don't have to squeeze one more book onto my already bulging bookshelves (I am a rereader) Now for the kids, I loved that on our ipads at school during Dr. Seuss week we could read the books during lab, instead of me having to track down who has the book where! The kids love technology and they forget they are reading as they are so engaged!

4) Finish this sentence: "On Sundays I like to..."
SLEEP (oh wait that is everyday)

5) Describe yourself in 5 words!
Techy, reader, friend, disorganized, overwhelmed

6) Hardcover or paperback? Why?
Well...hardcover as it means it is fresh on the market...LOL...but really don't buy physical books anymore, just add them to my kindle app!

7) Coffee or Tea? Iced Coffee :)

Now it's your turn head over here and join in! If you have questions about the read along here is the info! Thanks for stopping by, please take a look around, comment, and follow me! I love meeting fellow teachers!
